Humax announces FOXSAT-HDR, with Freesat+ coming in mid-November

As we've already briefly mentioned, the Freesat+ service is due to launch in mid-November, offering a DVR service similar to that of Sky+ and Freeview+.
Along with the new service will come Humax's FOXSAT-HDR, containing a 320GB hard drive able to store up to 80 hours of high definition programming (based on Freesat's standards, of course) or 200 hours of standard definition programmes.
As per any decent DVR, it will allow pausing, recording, and playback of live programmes, and comes with an eight day on-screen EPG.
It also features two digital tuners, meaning that two Freesat programmes can be recorded at once. It also has other advanced features that will prove useful, including series recording, radio recording, schedule tracking, and split recordings. Naturally, there's an HDMI output, and the unit consumes just one watt of power in standby mode. Two SCART sockets allow legacy equipment to be connected, and there's Dolby digital audio output. It even comes with all the major cables, which is a nice bonus.
Available for around £299. Freesat installation (if not already in place) will need to be arranged separately, and isn't included in the price.
Managing director of Freesat, Emma Scott, said, "The launch of Freesat+ with the FOXSAT-HDR is an exciting milestone for us. We're giving viewers the freedom to enjoy all their favourite standard definition shows, as well as the likes of Strictly Come Dancing, UEFA Champions League, England home games and blockbuster movies in HD whenever and however they want - for no subscription and no extra monthly bills."
