Kerwhizz: First in-house CBeebies show to be filmed in high definition

The BBC has announced a new pre-school quiz show to be aired on the CBeebies channel. Kerwhizz, aimed at 4-6 year-olds, will be the first in-house production to be filmed entirely in high definition.
Three teams of CGI characters compete to answer questions that will give them "Pod-Mods" for their high-tech racing machines. Designed with the assistance of teachers and a specialist advisor, Kerwhizz is said to be "visually stunning".
The races can take place in any of 26 different worlds which reflect a range of environments, from the astronomical to the historical.
The TV programme will be complemented by an online game and a radio show. There are currently 26 shows, each running for 22 minutes, with the show airing from the beginning of November. CBeebies worked with UK animation company Blue Zoo to achieve the combination of live action and CGI elements.
Kay Benbow, Head of CBeebies Production, says: "I am delighted that CBeebies Production has been commissioned to make this stand-out multi-platform property.
"By working together the integrated in-house team have created a show that lives in all the spaces a child does - on TV, on Radio and Online. It is great fun, fills a real gap in the pre-school market and looks fantastic!"
