BBC Scotland has announced a major new initiative to bring to life the rich history of the country, including a landmark 10-part series shot fully in high definition: A History of Scotland.
Beginning on Sunday 9th November, 9pm on BBC Scotland and BBC HD, it's co-produced with the Open University, and will later air on BBC Two.
"This is a project to reach and engage as wide as possible a range of people across the country with up-to-date analysis of Scotland's history," said Joint Head of Programmes at BBC Scotland, Maggie Cunningham.
The first five parts will air this year, with the final five parts being broadcast towards the end of next year.
Presenter Neil Oliver said, "Scotland is my country. The story of this place - and the people who've lived here during the last 10,000 years or so - means more to me than any other.
"For as long as I can remember I've wanted to understand more about how we got to where we are today; why the story unfolded as it has."

Great series. How do we geta dvd?
