With the BBC arguably the UK terrestrial broadcaster most advanced on the high-def road (BBC HD was established first and there's a fairly impressive array of varied output already), there's room for some speculation on what shows will get the high definition treatment next.
Formula One
There's some irony in the fact that ITV has finally started on the road to high definition just as it has lost Formula One motorsport for at least the next five years.
Nevertheless, BBC HD is more widely available, and should do a good job of broadcasting high definition F1 as and when it's available.
And to get you ready for the new season, the BBC has announced its presentation team: Jake Humphrey, David Coulthard, Eddie Jordan, Martin Brundle, Jonathan Legard, Lee McKenzie and Ted Kravitz.
More details are due in the new year, so hopefully we'll get a better idea of any technical issues then.
Doctor Who
Amidst rumours of Paterson Joseph taking on the role of the next Doctor Who, there's a little snippet of information suggesting that the TARDIS could get a makeover.
Not necessarily significant in itself, it could lead the way to a high definition Doctor Who.
In March last year, the BBC stated that Doctor Who would not be made in high definition due to the number of special effects used in the show. Seems that the age of the current set may also have something to do with it. Torchwood, in contrast, has a newer set and fewer special effects, hence was ripe for filming in HD.
Presuming Doctor Who continues past the next series, I'd expect to see a high definition debut by the series after that.
