Panasonic announces new VIERA LCD and plasma HDTVs

panasonic-x15-x10-lcd-hdtv.jpgStill very much behind both LCD and plasma TV technology, Panasonic has announced a new collection of VIERA high definition TVs.

All new LCD TVs feature the IPS Alpha panel with a large aperture ratio that offers clearer moving pictures, high contrast and a wide colour viewing angle.

On the LCD side, there's the flagship V10 Series that offers 100Hz Intelligent Frame Creation technology, slim design and VIERA CAST. It will come in 32 and 37-inch screen sizes.

The G15 Series also features VIERA CAST and comes as a 37-inch set.

The G10 Series will be available in 32 and 37-inch sizes, offering a 50,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.

The S10 Series are entry-level sets but still offering full HD. Available in 32, 37, and 42-inch screen sizes and offering 50,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio with an intelligent scene controller.

The X10 Series are smaller sets, available as 19, 26 and 32-inch screens, while the X15 Series comes as a 32-inch TV.

Finally, the C10 Series will be available in 26 and 32-inch screen sizes and offer an eco-mode that adjusts the screen luminance based on room brightness.

Many of the new plasma sets share the same series numbers as Panasonic's LCD TVs, though their feature sets aren't identical.

Top-of-the-line Z1 Series offers a one-inch slim design and full-HD wireless transmission technology. They have a dynamic contrast ratio of over 2,000,000:1 and are THX certified. Also include VIERA CAST. Available as 46 and 54-inch screens.

The V10 Series also offer 1080p viewing at 2,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. Other features include Digital Cinema Colour and THX certification, and Panasonic recommends these sets particularly for film viewers. Available in 42 and 50-inch screen sizes.

The G15 Series has a narrow bezel and slim design, and features VIERA CAST. Available in 42 and 46-inch screen sizes.

The G10 Series also offers high dynamic contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1 and 1080p. Available in 42, 46, and 50-inch screen sizes.

The S10 Series is an entry-level plasma but still with full high definition and 2,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and 400Hz Sub-field Drive Intelligent Frame Creation Pro, so they're no pushovers. Available in 42, 46, and 50-inch screen sizes.

The X10 Series are HD ready sets featuring 100Hz Double Scan, high dynamic contrast ratio and V-Audio Surround technology. Available in 37, 42, and 50-inch sizes. The C10 Series offers very similar functionality.

As an added bonus, it seems that a large number of these sets (14, according to Panasonic) include a Freesat HD tuner, so are ready to be hooked up to the free satellite service.

Pricing and availability to be confirmed. More detailed specifications for each set can be viewed on the Panasonic UK news site.
