Cables are boring, granted, but the least you can do is to buy one that fits in with your home decor and doesn't show itself up in polite company.
Something like Sony's latest streamlined HDMI cables, perhaps, which are "perfect for stylish home entertainment installations".
Tech-wise, they are high-performance HDMI cable compliant with the 1.3a category 2 specification and able to transfer data at up to 10.2Gbps. They feature a horizontal connection at each end, designed for flat TV wall installations, and are constructed from oxygen-free copper with 24 carat gold-plated connectors. They are triple-shielded to provide a high level of protection from electromagnetic interference.
The new Sony DLC-HD10H (1 metre) and DLC-HD20H (2 metre) HDMI cables feature connectors rotatable through 180˚. It can perfectly well handle 1080p, 240Hz refresh rate and 48-bit Deep Colour.
Available from April, pricing to be confirmed.
