Sony's on the move again with a range of new high definition home cinema receivers.
First up is the top-of-the-range, fully networkable STR-DA6400ES. Quite a workhorse, this 7.1-channel receiver can handle a huge range of audio and video formats.
Firstly, its DLNA certified which means that it's easy to stream music, photos and video content stored on a compatible PC or home media server directly via the unit to a high definition TV. It can also access the SHOUTcast Internet radio service.
The STR-DA6400ES can distribute audio to up to three different rooms simultaneously, with video available in two separate zones.
It has six HDMI inputs and two HDMI outputs, full HD audio capability including Dolby True HD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS HD Master Audio and DTS High Resolution Audio decoding, Sony HD Digital Cinema Sound processing, and automated set up of sound.
Available from May, pricing to be confirmed.
Also confirmed, three new receivers in the STR-DH range. The STR-DH500, STR-DH700 and STR-DH800 replace previous models launched in mid-2008.
The STR-DH500 is a 5.1-channel receiver with three HDMI inputs and one output, featuring Digital Cinema Auto Calibration and Digital Media Port.
The STR-DH700 is a 7.1-channel receiver also supporting x.v.Colour, Deep Colour, bi-amplification, and S-AIR wireless rear speakers.
Finally, the STR-DH800 is also a 7.1-channel system offering four HDMI inputs, one output, and full high definition audio support.
