D-Link launches DIR-825 Wireless Quadband Home Router
D-Link has just announced its latest router, designed to service the wireless needs of the multimedia household by incorporating both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands simultaneously.
This means that standard network traffic such as email, web surfing and such like can be done on the standard 2.4GHz Wi-Fi channel, while bandwidth and delay-critical data such as high definition video can be sent over the newer and faster 5GHz channel.
Added to this, D-Link has built in its Green Ethernet technology that automatically detects link status and network cable length and adjusts power output accordingly, as well as allowing the wireless signal to be put on a timer.
There's also QoS built-in. QoS takes wired and wireless data traffic, categorizes and separates it into multiple data streams and assigns priorities - Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), video streaming and online gaming are given priority over web browsing, for instance.
Available now for £129.99.
