A little ahead of schedule, Virgin Media has announced that four new channels will be available in high definition from the end of July.
LIVING HD, FX HD, MTVNHD and National Geographic HD will offer a huge new range of high definition programming for Virgin Media subscribers, including Grey's Anatomy, Dexter, Generation Kill, Most Haunted, Criminal Minds, Ghost Whisperer, Privace Practice, CSI, The Wire, Family Guy, True Blood, live music events, Extreme Ice and Ancient Megastructures.
CEO of Virgin Media, Neil Berkett, said, "As more homes become HD-ready, the launch of four new HD channels marks the next stage in the evolution of our pioneering TV service. Our line-up of HD channels and hugely popular on demand content is a unique and winning combination and we'll continue to bring more sport, films, entertainment and documentaries to our customers."
The full range of new HD channels will be available at no extra cost to XL TV customers.
Virgin Media is also currently in active talks with UKTV about Good Food HD.

"The launch of four new HD channels marks the next stage in the evolution of our pioneering TV service." Really? Pioneering? Pioneering ? Every heard of Sky. 32 HD channels? Mad talk. Great news though. I'll have to upgrade from my basic package to XL.
VM are so far behind on the HD front it's scary. I might have to go back to sky once my min contract is up just to get some quality content in HD. I'm sorry I ever left now.
i know what you mean phil. im out of contract now with vm so i will be moving over to sky- i didnt fork out on a lovely hd tv to watch poor sd quality pictures. in my opinion vm is so out of touch with what us viewers want. i would rather pay more for 32 hd channels than fork out for a measly 4 or 5!!! arent there 4 hd channels coming to freeview hd anyway in october
